A NEW 350 metre deep water berth was opened last week by the Sharjah Ports Authority at the port of Khor Fakkan terminal on the Gulf of Oman. In addition a new turning circle has been dredged, enabling the port to handle the world's largest container ships in safety.
The quay now measures just over a kilometre in length. These improvements have raised the terminal's capacity to over 1.5 million TEUs.
