New deep-sea port for Indonesia

A feasibility study is about to be started by risk-assessment company BMT Asia Pacific for a deep-sea port in Kijing, Indonesia – designed so the country can keep abreast of increasing cargo demand, growing at an annual rate of 4.6%.

It is also expected to reduce logistics costs from 23.5% of gross domestic product (GDP) to 19.2%, according to the Journal of Commerce.

According to Indonesian port developer PT Pelabuhan, the equivalent of around R1.265 billion will be allocated for the development of both this and Cirebon port.
