Despite a new hand at the helm, there will be
no significant change in the policy agenda at
the Air Cargo Operators’ Committee (Acoc).
According to new chairman, airline cargo
executive Douglas MacDougal, he intends to
follow the already established path laid down
under previous chairman, Alwyn Rautenbach,
MD of Airlink Cargo.
“I shall continue with the intention of
liaising with the appropriate authorities, and
doing the best for our members,” he told FTW.
One of the primary objectives at the
moment, he added, is the co-operation with the
SA Revenue Service (Sars) on the integration
of the new manifest acquittal system (MAS)
into the SA airfreight system.
“We have to ensure that our members will
face a system with which they can all comply,
and that our involvement with MAS will be
able to work at 100% efficiency.”
The ultimate overall aim for Acoc,
MacDougal added, will be for it to maintain
a good working relationship with all the
authorities and other bodies related to the
airfreight industry.
