Naval Servicos a Navegacao
is well placed to invest in
infrastructure in order to
meet the needs of its clients,
says Luis Gonçalves, managing
director of the Maputo-based
company.
Founded in Mozambique
in 1971, Naval has been
contracted to manage and
provide all the handling in the
Maputo Sized Coal Terminal,
as well as the management
and handling requirements at
the new Iron Ore Terminal, the
handling of bagged sugar, and
provide all the staffing for the
Maputo Citrus Terminal.
“Our team processes in
excess of 100 road trucks a
day with no errors, and has the
capacity to offload the same
number of rail trucks with
bulk cargoes,” says Goncalves.
“This expertise, coupled with
the access to funding, means
that the company is able to
expand to meet new demands
arising from the growing
volumes handled through the
ports of Maputo and Beira.
“Our position is that we
have the ability to provide the
services needed and will make
the necessary investments in
human and capital resources,
wherever these are justified,”
he told FTW.
Besides its head office and
branch in Maputo, Naval
also has a branch in Beira
where the company has an
exclusive contract to lash and
handle granite exported from
Zimbabwe.
The services offered by
Naval are not restricted to the
ports, with numerous services
currently provided in third
party cargo storage facilities
located in the surrounding
industrial areas of these two
cities.
