THE DEPARTMENT of Transport has rescheduled its Durban workshop on the new National Ports Act regulations for August 15, according to Quintus van der Merwe, transport specialist at Durban-based legal firm, Shepstone & Wylie.. This follows the cancellation of the June event. This will be the first public discussion of the proposed regulations, which are currently partially available in draft form. Main inclusions in the regulations, details of which are keenly awaited, are those relating to the national port regulator and the issue of public/private partnerships in port operation.
