outside of the country.
Woker
Freight Services
(WFS) – part of
Bidvest Namibia
– recently
handled the
demobilisation
of equipment
used to build a
power station
in neighbouring
Botswana.
The
construction
equipment,
which had
been imported originally into
Botswana, was exported through
the Port of Durban rather than
Walvis Bay, according to Philip
Coetzee, general manager of
Woker Freight Services (WFS).
WFS is geared for large
project consignment freight
requirements.
This includes the full cycle
of logistics
involved
in project
management–
shipping, cargo
handling,
customs
clearing,
forwarding
(inter-modal
transport) and
warehousing, he
says.
“We proved
that we could
take full
responsibility for a large project
like the one in Botswana from
across the border in Namibia.
“Our team worked closely with
the client and with our SA agent,”
he said.
WFS has extensive experience
in providing logistics support for
various types of project orientated
industries including mining,
energy, fast moving consumer
goods, oil and gas, manufacturing
and large scale infrastructure
development sectors, he added.
While Walvis Bay will continue
to be the first choice as a point
of entry or exit, Woker will be
evaluating other port options
when bidding for work outside of
Namibia, he says.
