NAMIBIA'S POSTAL service provider, Nampost, has joined forces with the Walvis Bay Corridor Group to create a regional mail hub for the SADC region in Namibia.
Numerous complaints, well known to nearly every SADC citizen, that the
present mail distribution network is inefficient have
prompted this move, says the Group's business
development executive Frank Gschwender.
It will serve ideally as a mail transit office to cater for all mail being sent between Europe and SADC countries.
The Namibian-based hub and spokes transit network will set up a partnership between postal administration in the SADC region and European postal unions. An agreement has been finalised with PTT Post (Netherlands) for the conveyance of mail to Botswana and Zambia, while negotiations for the conveyance of mail from these countries
to Europe is in progress.
