MSC bulks up fleet

MSC is ramping up its continued fleet expansion with the purchase of four second-hand container vessels, taking its tally of used box ship acquisitions to 124 since it started investing in this vein midway through last year.

Reportedly the Swiss-operated line has set a new record price for of its latest purchases, the 2014-built X-Press Jersey and the 2015 X-Press Guernsey.

Respectively the 4 896- and 5 001-TEU vessels were bought for $210 million from Sea Consortium in Singapore.
