M&S Logistics recorded 50% growth in 2012, and to meet the increased demand will be expanding its ISO tank fleet by 500 this year. “We’ve already completed 200 tanks in Port Elizabeth and expect to have completed 500 more by the end of 2013,” says managing director Kreason Pillay. And while Africa is a difficult market to crack because it’s largely a drum tank market, the company sees opportunities particularly in Nigeria, Angola and Ghana. “We will be focusing on growing our East and West African operations this year,” says Pilllay who believes the ISO tank is a safer and greener method of transportation than the drummed shipments when it comes to transporting potentially hazardous substances. It can also be used for static storage. “Africa doesn’t have the bulk capacity for storage and we provide the perfect solution in our 23 000 to 25 000-litre capacity ISO tanks,” says Pillay. The tanks can be stacked two units high and the oil and gas industry chemical liquid products can be stored for the length of their shelf life.
