Brazilian mining company Vale has declared force majeure on coal shipments through the port of Beira following flooding. In a statement released by the company recently, it says the high rainfall reaching Tete, Mozambique, since early February forced Vale to declare force majeure (FM) on a number of its coal sales contracts on February 15. “Severe weather has created serious challenges to the Linha do Sena railway, thus impacting the transportation of our coal products”. The Sena Line that transports coal from Mozambique’s Tete province to an export terminal in the port of Beira was shut down on February 12.
