ALAN PEAT ACCORDING TO Mozambican government geological data, the country’s central district of Moatize has an enormous potential for world-class coal. The Mozambique Investors' Intelligence reported that additional coal exploration by Rio Doce Moçambique, a subsidiary of Brazil’s Companhia do Vale do Rio Doce (CVRD) in Moatize, had made good progress. They said the company was busy drilling and analysing samples taken from different parts of the concession area formerly operated by the Mozambique coal company Carbomoc.
