The Walvis Bay Corridor Group and Namport have joined forces with the Road Motor Services company in Zimbabwe to develop a Zimbabwean Dry Port within the Port of Walvis Bay in order to attract more imports and exports for the Zimbabwean market via Namibia. There’s been a steady increase in goods moving to Zimbabwe via Walvis Bay over the past 24 months, according to the WBCG, which presented its marketing road show at the Zimbabwe International Business conference and trade fair recently. Goods being transported along this corridor range from frozen chicken and furniture to equipment, vehicles and other consumables, WBCG’s Agnetha Mouton told FTW. “The Walvis Bay corridors serve as a real alternative to link Zimbabwe to Europe, North America and South America,” said Mouton. “By using Walvis Bay, importers and exporters can save more than 10 days in transit time to markets in Europe and the Americas,” she said.
