OVERNIGHT ON March 31, the name Maritime Industry Training Board-Forwarding and Clearing (MITB-F&C) disappears as the body is absorbed into the new Transport Education and Training Authority (TETA).
This is a coming-together of all the different training sections within the transport/freight industry sectors under a single umbrella body.
But, outgoing MITB-F&C chairman, Dawood Alexander told FTW, we do not lose our sectorial identity in this new scenario, created in-line with the Skills Development Act which comes into place from April 1.
There will be an f&c section within TETA - as each training body will still have its own designated chambers.
While no board has yet been elected for the new F&C Chamber, Alexander told FTW that he intended to continue contributing to the new set-up.
And, he added, executive director of MITB-F&C, Charles Dey, will retain the management chair in the chamber - which will remain at its present location until all the TETA offices can be conveniently moved into a central headquarters.
