From ship chandling to trading and bunkering
STARTED in Cape Town in 2001 by a husband and wife team, Rion’s Shipping and Trading (RS&T) has now grown into a reputable and reliable marine service company, says MD Rion Ribeiro.
“And we are growing day-by-day,” he told FTW.
The company’s prime business is
as ships and port agents - an operation open 24-hours a day,
and 365-days a year, and catering for all foreign and domestic shipowners, operators, managers and charterers who have vessels calling at the port of Cape Town.
“We are able to handle all types of vessels,” Ribeiro told FTW, “and we are committed to working together as a team with our clients and colleagues.
“This enables RS&T to provide its client base with smoother sailing.”
Together with its service partners, the company has incorporated a wide spectrum of marine services, now including ship chandling, ship chartering, trading and bunkering.
This small team is aiming to follow an expansion path - a growth that Ribeiro feels will allow his company to create job opportunities for the previously disadvantaged sectors of the SA community.
“Also, we intend to initiate black economic empowerment (BEE) in our operation, as we are fully committed to the shipping industry on a long-term basis.
“You can add to that the fact that we always act in our client’s best interests,” Ribeiro told FTW, “and that it is our primary concern that we always ensure cost-effectiveness in everything we handle for the maritime industry.”
