Africa’s longest suspension bridge, the Maputo-Catembe Bridge, is due to open for traffic on June 25, coinciding with Mozambique’s Independence Day.

The bridge and supporting road infrastructure is expected to cut driving time between Maputo and the KwaZulu-Natal border from six hours to a 90-minute drive.

The US$725 million project was financed by Export-Import Bank of China.
