Maputo arrivals get bigger and bigger

Leonard Neill KUEHNE & Nagel in Maputo will bring in its biggest ever consignment early next year, says Mozambique managing director Carlos Pino. "Major negotiations are underway at present but no details are available yet. We expect to make an announcement shortly." Pino was on hand when the two 45ton container loaders were unveiled by Mozambique International Port Services (MIPS) in Maputo recently. His company handled the full logistics of bringing them in from the manufacturers in Sweden. Along with accessories, both sets of equipment reached the 60ton figure. "That was our record earlier this year when we handled the logistics for the importation of a mill Ð a 60ton consignment - which had to be delivered on site 10km from the port. "This latest import doubled the record. ItÕs been a good year for us, but if all goes well, 2003 will be even bigger," he said.
