TERRY HUTSON FIVE YEARS after the merger of Rohlig (South Africa) and Grindrod Freight Logistics, the firm of Rohlig Grindrod has moved into Grindrod House. This is only a short block down from Albany House West, where the company had been an established fixture for about 25 years. “When the merger took place in May 2000 it was decided that we would remain at our rented premises in Albany House West. This was a wise choice, as it was very central to our company’s operational needs,” says Denver Wright, Durban seafreight and East London branch manager. “We might have stayed in the building even longer, as it has been a comfortable home for all this time, but SARS decided to move to the building and they require all the space thus precipitating our move.” This entailed a search for at least 1 000 m2 of office accommodation to house Rohlig Grindrod’s 70 staff. Wright says it was quite opportune that two complete floors one above the other became available in Grindrod House. “The fact that we are part of the Grindrod Group certainly lends itself to exploring further synergies with our brothers and sisters in the group, now that we share the same address,” he said. Pointing the way – Denver Wright shows the way to Röhlig Grindrod’s new home in Grindrod House. New offices to open FOLLOWING ITS move to a new Durban address, Rohlig Grindrod will open new offices in Pietermaritzburg (on November 1) and at Richards Bay (early January).
