The R24 freeway in Ekurhuleni has been reopened following traffic chaos on Tuesday morning following closure of the westbound section near Van Riebeeck Road leading towards Gillooly’s interchange.
A truck crashed into a concrete barrier and caught fire on Monday night.
Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services said the road had to be closed because the slippery surface had to be decontaminated while the wreckage was removed.
