Maersk Line has been nailed by the US government for allegedly overcharging on the costs of shipping containers to troops involved in the Afghan and Iraqi conflicts. According to a US Department of Justice statement of January 3 forwarded to FTW, the line has agreed to pay the government the equivalent of over R255 million. This is to resolve allegations that it submitted false claims to the US in connection with contracts to transport cargo in shipping containers.
