Danish line Maersk has announced that it will have a new executive at the helm to oversee its operations in Southern Africa and the Indian Ocean islands.
Lubabalo Mtya, who has been appointed area managing director for this region, with effect from April, is currently chief executive of Barloworld Logistics Africa.
In confirming his appointment, Maersk said: “He brings with him a wealth of experience as a passionate leader.”
The decision to appoint Mtya formed part of the carrier’s philosophy to grow through investing in human capital, Maersk said.
“Lubabalo will be succeeding Jonathan Horn, who will be retiring at the end of April 2022.
“We would like to thank Jonathan for his incredible contribution to the Maersk business over the last 18 years.
“He will be remembered for his integrity, customer focus, and for being a compassionate leader.”
