SAA reviews Abidjan service

SAA-Cargo will launch a freighter service to Lusaka, Zambia in the near future, says executive manager, alliances and networks, Marcus Senyatsi.
“Africa is opening up more and more, and the more stability we have on the continent the better trade relations we will grow and cement with African countries. In keeping with this strategy, we have now rolled out freighters to destinations such as Lilongwe, Harare and Dar es Salaam.”
Now that the Ivory Coast unrest has settled to allow SAA to fly into Abidjan once again, SAA-Cargo is currently reviewing the growing freight demands from that country.
“Our Abidjan flight is combined with Accra (Ghana), and this becomes a challenge in terms of capacity. Abidjan’s demand is significant.”
Flights to Senegal are also offering SAA-Cargo a new entry point into the far West of Africa. SAA stops at Dakar westbound en route to the US. There is potential to grow the cargo market, says Senyatsi.
“This requires a great deal of hard work, however, as trade between the two countries is not at the best levels yet.”
