Weighbridge calibration, maintenance and repair services are now being provided out of Maputo following the opening of International Weighbridge and Equipment (IWAE) by long-time Mozambican logistics specialist Karel Meyer. He identified the need for weighbridge support while working with cargo companies. IWAE was set up to supply modern weighbridges to replace the older mechanical units, which are no longer suitable for modern logistics needs, he told FTW. The company installs weighbridges with new and modern digital loadcells and weight indicators, which can be integrated into cargo management systems. It soon became apparent that there was also a need for local technical back-up. IWAE now has two qualified technicians, as well as the certified test weights needed to calibrate weighbridges. IWAE is also fully registered and certified with INOQ under certificate number: INOQMI006 “We can service the whole of Mozambique from Maputo to Palma,” he says.
