The first two of an expected 95 20E dual-voltage electric locomotives for Transnet Freight Rail (TFR) arrived in the port of Durban from Shanghai, China last Friday. A third is expected to arrive in Durban in mid-December. It's part of a R2.6-bn contract awarded by TFR to a consortium comprising China South Rail’s Zhuzhou Electric Locomotive and local black economic empowerment (BEE) consortium Matsetse Basadi. CAPTION The first locomotive imported by Transnet Freight Rail from China is offloaded at FPT Durban just before it was viewed by various role players from Transnet, TPT, TFR and the supplier in China.
