Maersk has launched its first warehousing and distribution facility in Cape Town.

The new facility covers 10 000 square metres and has an additional open yard space of 3 5000sqm. It is able to provide 7 000 pallet locations with over 85% of the area covered with racking.

It has access to the strategic Belcon rail, which is just under 5 kilometres away, the Port of Cape Town, 22km away, and the N1 and N2 highways and the Cape Town International Airport.

The facility also has backup power and safety measures for fire compliance, with an Automatic Sprinkler Inspection Bureau (ASIB) certification.
