AN ANALYSIS of recent Portnet figures in Durban by the SA Shippers Council executive director, Nolene Lossau, reveals that the average delay on vessels from March 1 to April 6 was 11.7-hrs.
This had moved out a bit in the first
week of April, with the 24 ships arriving
in the first seven days facing a 15.6-hr
average wait.
"But, said Lossau, "only eight of those 24 ships were on time, according to the ETA (estimated time of arrival) forecast submitted by the lines seven days before arrival.
"So the lines have something to answer for as well when it comes to reasons for delays."
