The Land and Agricultural Development Bank of South Africa has appointed Ayanda Kanana as its new chief executive officer.

Kanana is a qualified chartered accountant with in-depth knowledge of the agriculture sector and is currently the CEO of the Johannesburg Fresh Produce Market.

She is also the chairperson of the Audit and Risk Committee for the East London Industrial Development Zone.

Chairperson of the Land Bank Board, Arthur Moloto, said that one of the factors raised with the recent downgrade by credit rating agency, Moody’s, was the delayed appointment of a permanent CEO by the Land Bank.

Moloto said they were hopeful that the appointment would bring about sustained oversight of operations at the bank and secure its strategic direction. – Zoë van Rooyen.
