Abidjan alternative mooted ALAN PEAT THE PORT of Lagos in Nigeria has gained notoriety for its severe congestion, and the lengthy delays in getting waiting ships into their berths. Due to the construction on the main runway at Lagos airport, she told FTW, SAA Cargo is not able to carry any cargo other than live animals and human remains on its Johannesburg-Lagos flights. “We are looking at other alternatives to move all general cargo into Lagos via Abidjan,” she said – with the promise that SAA will keep its users updated on the progress.
