A rise in the price of copper has sparked a 12% appreciation of the Zambian kwacha over the American dollar in the first half of 2017, making it the second-best performer in Africa.
Copper prices are at their highest in more than two years.
Analysts warn, however, that any threat to production due to political uncertainty will see the currency devalue again.
