SIMPHIWE KONDLO, chief executive of the Buffalo City Municipality’s Amatola Water Board, has been appointed executive director of the East London Industrial Development Zone (IDZ). He replaces Peter Miles, whose contract with the IDZ ends next month.
Des Halley, Buffalo City’s deputy mayor who is also chairman of the IDZ management committee, said Miles would be retained as adviser to the chief executive until the end of March, after which a decision would be taken on his future status in the IDZ.
An announcement on future plans for the IDZ will be announced shortly, says Halley, who has disclosed that negotiations with investment companies are being concluded. He expects construction of manufacturing plants to begin during the second half of this year.
