Kenya’s Nairobi to Mombasa railway line makes headway

Kenya Railways’ special locomotive engines – to be used for laying the standard gauge railway (SGR) track between Nairobi and Mombasa – have already been offloaded at the Port of Mombasa, according to TradeMark East Africa (TMEA).

Kenya Railways managing director, Athanas Maina, said that the locomotives would be transported by heavy duty trailers to Mtito Andei and Emali, where the laying of the rail track is set to start by November this year.
