Kenya port records significant volume growth

Port of Mombasa

Kenya’s port of Mombasa recorded cargo traffic growth of 10.1% in the first nine months of the year. This follows the installation of new cargo-handling facilities at the beginning of the year.

The total cargo volume rose from 18.05 million tonnes handled between January and September last year to 19.87 million tonnes handled during the same period this year.

The port's managing director, Gichiri Ndua, was quoted by Reuters news agency as saying that the port “expects to hit 26.5 million tonnes by end of this year."
