THE RECENT introduction by Kenya Airways of an additional night flight has increased Kencargo's load uplift from Johannesburg to Nairobi to 52 tons per week. An incoming flight from Nairobi on Sunday night will depart at 03:00 on Monday, making it the third night schedule. Existing flights leave JIA at the same time on Wednesday and Saturday mornings. "They have proved to be extremely useful connections to other African destinations," says Kencargo's southern Africa marketing manager Maarten Klijnstra. "Most flights leave Nairobi for destinations like Dar es Salaam and Entebbe two or three hours after arrival from Johannesburg, which means that items handed in to our offices before local departure time are delivered early the next day." Klijnstra has stressed, however, that courier items are accepted only through registered courier companies, with no Ôoff the street' consignments accepted at present.
