LOGICO’S BLUE and white logo has become a familiar sight on the roads of Swaziland, as the firm that reps for several blue chip South African companies keeps local store shelves stocked with a variety of consumer goods. Logico has been transporting these goods since 2003, and since last year has occupied a renovated sugar packing plant in the centre of the Matsapha Industrial Estate. Five cross-border trucks bring in the goods to the landlocked country, and 12 local delivery trucks speed these items to customers. The company has a 4500 m2 warehouse in Johannesburg, which is cleared every day, according to Logico managing director Anthony Geldard. “We have two types of stock: drop shipments, which are goods en route from South Africa to retailers in Swaziland; and Bought and Sold Stock, which we as a company purchase and then sell here in Swaziland,” Geldard explained. The company warehouse in Matsapha includes an expanded holding area and a palletised deep freeze. The large freezer facility allows forklifts to move pallets of frozen chickens and other frozen goods.
