Investors are being sought for a US$95- million toll road and rail bridge at the Kazungula crossing over the Zambezi river on the Zambia-Botswana border. Work is ready to start on the crossing, which serves Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana directly, and Namibia, South Africa and the Democratic Republic of Congo indirectly. Zimbabwe’s closest bridge crossing is at Victoria Falls, 70km from Kazungula, while the Namibia-Zambia crossing at Katima Mulilo is 150 kilometres away. Included in the Kazungula development plans are a railway line, an inland port, and a one stop border post.
