Katlego launches Tanzania roadfreight service

FULL LOGISTICS, from source to destination, is the speciality at Katlego Global Logistics.
Most companies that supply goods into Africa battle with compliance, says managing director Moses Maboi.
“But because of my experience
in commodity trading in the region,
I have the understanding and know-how to co-ordinate shipments in a single supply chain,” he says.
“And that’s the way our clients like it - they just need to play golf while we do the rest.”
It’s clearly paying dividends
for the BEE company which has seen huge growth in the number of enquiries for its Africa desk, says Maboi.
Agency agreements are already in place in Angola, Botswana, Tanzania, Kenya and Guinea, and new markets are constantly under review. Maboi is bullish about prospects in Angola, where the mining and construction industries are adding momentum.
A recent addition to Katlego’s service portfolio is a weekly roadfreight option into Tanzania, largely motivated by port congestion problems. “Although it’s more expensive than seafreight, when you weigh up the demurrage costs, it’s a cost-effective option.
“Trade with Africa is the most logical growth point for South Africa,” says Maboi, “and we’re ready to grow our share of it.
“It also fits well with our drive to grow export business, particularly into neighbouring countries.”
