AS IT celebrates its fifth year in business, Kapele Freight & Logistics has broadened its focus to provide a fully fledged logistics offering. “We’ve diversified from a small company that focused largely on warehousing to provide a one stop shop encompassing clearing and forwarding, warehousing and distribution,” managing director Joe Latakgamo told FTW. “Kapele has invested heavily in technology and in our people, all of whom have received extensive training in the interests of maintaining high service levels.” With its head office and warehouse in Jet Park close to Johannesburg International Airport, the company also has an office in Durban and recently opened a Port Elizabeth branch following the acquisition of a major pharmaceutical account. “A sophisticated warehouse management system facilitates inventory management, cross docking, repair and return as well as batch, lot or part number tracking and barcoding,” he said.
