JOACHIM HELLMANN, regarded by many as one of the industry's great visionaries, died on March 1 after battling a serious illness.
He headed the German forwarding major Hellmann between 1946 and 1988, when his son Jost Hellmann took over the reins.
At 21 he joined the board and achieved significant success particularly in developing the business within the textile industry.
His colleagues described him as a man ahead of his time. He thought and spoke about acquisitions, customer orientation, marketing, corporate design and identity before anybody even had a name for it, Michael Claus told FTW.
He leaves his wife Hanne, sons Jost and Jens, and their families.
