It's a family affair as Dieter moves up

DIETER VON MANSBERG, elder son of managing director Gerd von Mansberg, has been appointed general manager of The Cargo Connection, the general sales agency company his father founded in 1994.
He will run the company's schedules, handle all airline business, and attend to the day-to-day operations. Indications are, however, that he moves into the hot seat at The Cargo Connection in the role of md-designate.
Father Gerd is currently involved in the establishment of a new cargo airline, details of which will be disclosed in mid-September.
Von Mansberg jnr's appointment coincides with the company's appointment as South African gsa for Kenya Airways, which is now operating a daily service between Nairobi and Johannesburg.
They have become the no.1 freight carrier in Africa, he says. With regular consignments destined for places like Lagos, Khartoum and Accra they are serving the rest of the continent on a better daily basis than anyone else.
Dieter von Mansberg joined The Cargo Connection a year after it was established but left later to work for DHL Aviation overseas, gaining experience in Europe and Africa.
