Growing African demand
for the transport of bulk
food grade liquids in
tankers has prompted
M&S Logistics South
Africa to added 25 new
South Africa-made ISO
tanks to its fleet.
The release of the
new tanks coincides
with another milestone
– a 25-year relationship
between M&S Logistics
and Welfit Oddy PE.
Managing director
Kreason Pillay says the
company has a strategy to
grow and expand the use
of ISO tanks in Africa.
“Africa has been seen
as a huge and untapped
growth and development
market that is unaware
of the benefits of using
ISO tanks rather than the
conventional and historical
means of transportation of
bulk liquids in drums,” he
told FTW.
Pillay describes Africa’s
consumption of chemical
and lubricant liquids as
huge. “We are establishing
agency networks
throughout East and West
Africa, and slowly but
surely making receivers
aware of the ISO tank and
its benefits.
“We are gaining market
share and the ISO tanks
are being accepted as the
safest and most efficient
mode of transport for bulk
liquids into Africa.”
The company has a
presence in 10 African
countries.
The food grade tanks
will be used for the
transport of alcohol, juice
and edible oils.
According to Pillay,
volumes out of Africa are
starting to increase along
with the revival of the
continent’s agricultural
sector.
