INTERTEK TESTING Services (ITS) has clinched a contract with the Malawi government to provide preshipment inspection services (PSI).
The contract, which runs initially for two years, covers virtually all goods destined for the country. ITS has been appointed as sole contractor and is currently arranging hand-over arrangements with the previous agent. These are expected to be finalised by March 1.
Regular exporters to Malawi can expect, however, to receive communications from ITS with immediate effect.
Exporters have been advised that all imports are subject to PSI above the minimum shipment value of US$2 000.
