RWS has unveiled its innovative new service, GIJIMA, a delivery method that uses the Gautrain to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainable practices. The service offers a range of features and benefits designed to provide customers with a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution with access to over 400 Gauteng destinations.“We are thrilled to introduce the service to our customers in Gauteng. We believe that every small step counts in our fight against climate change, and through GIJIMA, we aim to create a greener, more ecological future. We hope to inspire our customers to make conscious choices that benefit their businesses and the planet,” says CEO Diana van Wyk.By adopting sustainable practices in its day-to-day operations through the GIJIMA service, RWS aims to minimise its emissions and positively impact the environment.“The problem of traffic congestion and delayed deliveries has long been a challenge in the field of transportation and logistics, especially in built-up regions such as Gauteng. With the increase in online shopping and the demand for faster delivery options on your typical smaller-sized package, traditional methods of transport have struggled to keep up,” explains Van Wyk.This innovative approach aims to overcome the limitations of traditional transportation systems and provide faster and more efficient delivery services. Moreover, with the option of same-day service, customers can expect their packages to be collected and delivered in record time.“The allocation of ‘runners’ to Gautrain routes and their monitoring through our 24/7 operating control room plays a vital role in monitoring each runner and their backpacks. The control room is equipped with advanced surveillance systems and a team of dedicated personnel who keep a close eye on the runners’ activities. The control room operates round the clock, providing continuous support through all services offered by RWS,” says Van Wyk."We have adopted a cost-leadership strategy that enables us to offer this service at a lower price – and that, in turn, gives our customers real cost savings. Our focus is on delivering the necessities without unnecessary frills, keeping costs to a minimum without compromises on speed or the quality of service." By streamlining operations and leveraging sustainable practices, RWS can provide competitive pricing without compromising service quality.”According to Van Wyk, cost-effectiveness does not need to come at the expense of quality. "RWS's launch of the GIJIMA service marks a significant milestone in the company's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibilit y.”
