Industry’s sharpest minds to scrutinize smart tech in transport

Technology Innovation in Transport will be at the centre of a round table discussion at the next Transport Forum event, hosted by the University of Johannesburg’s School of Transport and Logistics.

Professor Joash Mageto, head of the Department of Transport and Supply Chain Management at UJ, will open proceedings and is sure to share solid insights about the state of the freight industry.

The following industry leaders will also discuss various topics:

  • Glen Steyn, director of Maritime Logistics Development for the Western Cape.
  • Norman Parkin, CEO of IOTI (Internet of Things Integration).
  • Allen Harington, head of sales of Ctrack.
  • Louise Wiggett, chief executive of Global Trade Solutions.
  • Eloise van der Westhuizen, procurement category manager of technology at Unitrans.
  • Jonathan Rolando, head of Business Development and Implementation Africa at Freeway Fleet Systems.
  • John Beetge, commercial executive of the Customer Resolution Centre at Pepkor Lifestyle Logistics.
  • Alvin Gulzar, executive manager of ICT at Transnet Port Terminals (TPT).

  • Transport Forum founder Harry van Huyssteen said the event would be an ideal opportunity for industry stakeholders to “get up to speed with the very latest innovations shifting the transport sector”.

The round table starts at 08:00 on October 9 and will be held at the Premier Hotel OR Tambo, 73 Gladiator Street, Rhodesfield, Kempton Park.
