Logistics and shipping industry stalwart, Brenda Horne, has won the CEO Global ‘Africa’s Most Influential Women in Business and Government Award 2016’ in the logistics category for South Africa and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) South region.

She is now a finalist in the international awards. The winners will be announced in October this year.

The CEO Global network awards recognise the top female achievers in business, government and civil society. This is the sixteenth year of its global programme and the fifth year of its expanded footprint into the African continent

“I believe that awards such as this are not really for the individuals, but rather serve as motivation and encouragement for the upcoming generation that everything is possible if there is a will to succeed and make a difference,” said Horne.

As CEO, Horne drove the re-branding of the Southern African Shipping, Transport and Logistics Council (Sastalc) and established a full-time office in Johannesburg. While she still serves as a director of the organisation, Yayeri Kisaame, has succeeded her as CEO. She now provides an advisory service to the industry.
