Four of five deep-sea port projects in Indonesia are to start operations by 2018, according to a government statement.
According to Chinese news agency, Xinhua, these are Kuala Tanjung in North Sumatra, Kalibaru in Jakarta, Teluk Lamong in East Java and New Makassar in South Sulawesi provinces.
Those deep-sea ports were projected to see a cut in the country’s historically-high logistic cost – reducing it from 28% to 20% of the gross domestic product (GDP) after these ports get underway.
The fifth port project is to be constructed in Sorong, in Indonesia’s easternmost province of Papua.
