The trade and commerce sector in Africa is currently experiencing rapid growth, with a surge in demand for exports across a wide range of industries. However, this increase in demand has also highlighted the pressing need for efficient and reliable logistics solutions to support the export market.Logistics service providers are stepping up and increasing end-to-end solutions which can handle the unique challenges of exporting goods into Africa.“Africa is an emerging market, with investment into the continent growing rapidly over the past few years,” said Mark Naidoo, trade coordinator for exports at SACO CFR. “There is an emphasis on development into West Africa, and to support customers’ needs, we have improved our offering and end-to-end solutions to this region. There is a focus on the establishment of networks and footprints at present. This, however, must be done strategically. The economic trends and opportunities in these developing markets are cyclical, and we foresee that less than container load (LCL) can play a significant role.”The company now offers weekly export services to Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso, as well as door delivery services to Accra, Ghana and Takoradi, Ghana via its Durban to Tema service.“Exports remain a core focus for development for the whole group within SACO CFR,” said national sales manager Nicholas Von Flemming. “We retain expertise within our manufacturing sector, and those who have been able to survive the challenges offer robust business models.”
