A WARNING to clothing and textile importers from forwarders Safcor Panalpina – diarise January 1 for the start of the quotas on Chinese imports, but start getting ready in November. Although the government deferred the quota permit system for Chinese textile and apparel articles on September 15 by three months, FTW was told, no imports of these products will be permitted without the requisite special import permits from January 1, 2007. Anyone who has not yet applied to International Trade Administration Committee (Itac) for their 2007 import permits is warned to do so no later than early November.
