... and targets freight agents

A FOURTH consolidation has been added to Ikamiji Freight's present weekly total of three on the Johannesburg-Mozambique run.
This is to slot into the current Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule where needed, according to Ikamiji's Kevin Gesseau - and to match growing volumes on the trade.
"It's taken us by surprise how well it's going," he told FTW, adding that the company intended to put an extra truck on the road by mid-October.
"At the rate it's presently growing, we should have a consol a day by October next year."
Currently the main cargoes on the regular service - carrying 25-28-ton loads of groupage on its 14.5-metre tri-axle trailers - are mostly shipments of industrial raw materials, chemicals, and building and construction materials and tools.
A main target for Ikamiji, of course, is the forwarding agents market, says Gesseau.
"Next year we will be offering special rates for agents," he said. "We are aiming at this market because it generates more freight for us than the direct shippers."
