Hunting tourism provides growing niche market

Kevin Mayhew PROFESSIONAL HUNTING trophy exports are becoming a major niche market for Woker Freight Services (WFS). The export value in this market is estimated to be more than N$1-million (R1-m) per annum. According to general manager, Johan Swart, the company is successfully exhibiting at international shows to promote its capacity for handling the delicate business of trophy exports. “The Namibian import and export industry generally remains static so we need to seek new sources of revenue. We have found this to be one that is in demand as professional hunting tourism increases,” he says. Outside of this revenue source he says the opening of the Trans-Kalahari and Trans-Caprivi Corridors will be major influences in the market.
