A letter sent out by the SA Revenue Service (Sars) on April 2 gives a clarification of the new clearing agents’ registration requirements. It said: “This serves to confirm that, as of February 10, all clearing agents may process their entries through any designated port. “Please note that you are no longer required to apply to be a clearing agent for a specific branch office. “All new applications will, therefore, by definition, be national clearing agent applications.”
