Hong Kong has increased its grape imports following the establishment of an extremely successful wine factory in the city. According to Perry Fung, regional director of Middle East and Africa for the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the factory – in the heart of Hong Kong – manufactures a merlot cabernet franc rose that is described as a juicy and lush wine. “We are now importing grapes from all over the world, making use of our extremely efficient logistics system to increase the wine production,” he said. According to Fung, the logistics system enables wine makers in Hong Kong to handpick top fruit from around the world before having it frozen – using the latest technology – and then shipped to Hong Kong. “We don’t have farms and wineries, but efficient logistics allows us to access some of the best fruit in the world."
